Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis Welcomes Youth Delegation from Sister Cities International’s 2025 Youth Leadership Summit

Washington, D.C. (June 21, 2025) — The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Saint Kitts and Nevis was honored to host Ms. Ricki Garrett, President of Sister Cities International, along with more than 50 high school students and staff sponsors from across the United States and the Caribbean, for a special luncheon on the occasion of the 2025 Youth Leadership Summit.

Held in Washington, D.C. from June 15–21, the Youth Leadership Summit is an immersive international program designed to cultivate the next generation of citizen diplomats. The dynamic group of young leaders concluded a day of diplomatic engagement, which began at the U.S. Department of State, with a visit to the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

During their visit, participants engaged in an enriching dialogue with Her Excellency Ambassador Jacinth Henry-Martin and Mission staff. Ambassador Henry-Martin shared insights on the work of an embassy, the evolving landscape of diplomacy, and the importance of cultural understanding in international relations. She highlighted the role of “soft diplomacy” in forging connections, the value of multilingualism in diplomacy, and the unique contributions of small island nations to global discourse.

The luncheon offered students an opportunity to interact directly with diplomats, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of global cooperation, diplomacy, and leadership.

The Embassy remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster cross-cultural dialogue, youth empowerment, and international goodwill.

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Saint Kitts and Nevis congratulates all participants of the 2025 Youth Leadership Summit and commends Sister Cities International for its continued investment in youth leadership and citizen diplomacy.
